A charitable fund established with a bequest over a decade ago continues to invest in Cranberry Lake area communities.

The Damoth Fund awarded $75,000 in grants to community organizations serving the towns of Clifton and Fine this year. Four grants totaling $15,000 each were awarded to the Clifton Community Library, the Wilderness Health Care Foundation, the Clifton-Fine Central School District and the Cranberry Lake Volunteer Fire Department; these grants are made annually to each organization.

The Damoth Fund also awards $15,000 annually to the Clifton-Fine Economic Development Corporation (CFEDC), which in turn awards select grants to community initiatives.

“Robert Damoth’s generosity continues to uplift the people of the Cranberry Lake region,” said Hannah Federow, president of the Clifton-Fine Economic Development Corporation. “It’s awe-inspiring that this quiet man has made such a lasting impact on all of our lives.”

The fund was established in 2012 with a bequest by Robert Damoth, a local man who loved the communities that make up the Cranberry Lake area.

“Mr. Damoth’s gift underscores the power of leaving a legacy,” said Cali Brooks, president and CEO of Adirondack Foundation. “By working with our community foundation, he was able to ensure that his love for his community would last in perpetuity.”

Additional grants awarded by the CFEDC this year include:

  • Cranberry Lake North Shore Hub
  • Cranberry Lake Mountaineers
  • Cultural Arts Committee of CFEDC
  • Clifton Community Library (additional grant to support purchase of materials)
  • Cranberry Lake Art Show & Friends of the Library
  • Clifton-Fine Central School District (additional grant to supper after-school programming)
